Long time no update, but I figured that if many of you hadn't seen the AX website or heard anything about it, then this update would be at least somewhat appropriate.
According to AX's website, you are now allowed to pre-register for the event. I realize that this convention is about eight months away, but I also know that many of you want to save as much money as is possible and buy your registration [among other things] as cheap as you can possibly get it.
The prices for Full [All Days] Passes are as follows:
$40.00 if postmarked by December 15, 2004
$45.00 if postmarked by March 15, 2005
$50.00 if postmarked by May 15, 2005
$55.00 if purchased at the door.
The prices for other passes are as follows:
$25.00 for a one day pass.
$40.00 for a two day pass.
$20.00 for a children's [under 12] pass
Free for kids under five. [Though I don't imagine anyone needing these last two..]
By way of group discounts, AX has a particular deal in which groups of ten or more who are purchasing the same type of membership will recieve a discount of $5.00 per membership (children not included in this discount offer). In order for groups to recieve this discount, all registrations must be paid and recieved at the same time with one payment for the entire group. Additionally, memberships cannot be added to the group later, so you have to be absolutely sure you want to pay whenever the group chooses to.
So, this brings me to an offer to all of you: I know it seems very early, but if anyone is willing to do a group discount so as to save five dollars (it does add up, trust me..), then decide if you're definitely going to be attending AX and see if we can gather a group together by the time December 15th comes around. Though it may seem as if there is a lot of time between now and December 15th, it will come quicker than expected. However, I will ask that if people decide this is something they would like to be part of, that they are definitely going to do this. It would be really awful to send away a payment and then have someone pull out because they suddenly decided that they did not wish to participate in this meet-up. That's not fair to anyone.
Anyway, in order to pre-register you must print and fill-out the registration form, which can be found here (which does include the same information I've provided above), and then send a Check or Money Order [Only Checks/Money Orders] to the following address:
Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation
Los Angeles, CA 90084-1455
Unfortunately, for those wanting to pay via online through paypal, online registration for the convention is currently down, so if you have your heart set on paying through that method, then you will have to wait until whenever it is relaunched.
Anyway, I have good news for those of you who live overseas who might be considering attending this convention: You *can* pre-register for this, so don't be shy if you decide it's something you want to pursue. However, it is requested that if you do pre-register, you convert your currency to USD.. so keep that in mind.
Yeah. I think that's everything.
Thanks for your time
